Things I wish could be caught on camera.

Cody playing his guitar and making up a song about THOR, and THOR and I dancing along to it.

"Oh, THORbear. You are my dog. You're not Mama's dog."

(HEY! ...OK so it's totally true. Just wait until Hanalei comes along. I will dress her up in cute outfits and bling and squeeze her and hug her and call her George and she will love me forever.)

All the while I'm sure THOR was wondering how he ever got stuck with us two weirdos. I wouldn't change it for the world.

I love my precious little bear.

Finding Hope: A Video for the Arizona Animal Welfare League

Emergency Vets in Arizona

I know that my dear readers do everything they possibly can to keep their beloved companions safe. But if an emergency happens, will you know where to go?

It just occurred to me that I have no idea where the nearest emergency animal clinic is... bad news if the worst were to happen. Here is a short list of local emergency veterinarian services- for further locations, a good place to check is the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Another good idea is to compile a Doggie First Aid Kit to keep on-hand for smaller ailments you can handle at home.

Meat: Hot or Not?

In my research today I came across this great blog about dogs inspiring vegetarianism complete with a story about a culture that reveres the benefits of eating dog meat. In case you were wondering where I made the connection between loving my dog and not eating meat, the thoughts in this article sum it up nicely.

I must admit, however, that it is hard not to feel hypocritical living that lifestyle based on my concern for animal welfare while feeding my dog the meat that he requires for his own survival. I'd love to hear your thoughts on reconciling this apparent paradox. For instance, is feeding your dog a vegetarian diet to settle your conscience beneficial or harmful to your pet? Is it even possible to do so and maximize their nutrition?

Stay tuned: this may be next on my research list.

Dog-Friendly Outdoor Shopping Centers- Phoenix Area

The following shopping destinations offer a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues in addition to a number of events throughout the year. Dogs are welcome in the common areas. It is up to individual stores whether pets can be brought inside- it's best to call beforehand if you plan to take your pup to a specific store. Dogs must be leashed, cleaned up after at all times, and they are not allowed in food court areas. Always come prepared with "doggie bags" to clean up any messes left by your dog!
